Olaf's Folly

Olaf’s Folly utilises two stunning stitches from Estonian Lace, Traveling Vines and Lily of the Valley. This piece’s name comes from a time when one of my cats (Olaf) ate some lilies that my husband had bought me. Being a cat you would think he would know what folly this was because lilies are poisonous to cats! It seems however that he wasn’t all that clued up and he went ahead and had a taste.

A taste that resulted in a 5 night stay at the vet’s and a rather large bill for us. Ultimately this would cost him his life in November 2019 when he succumbed to renal failure caused by permanent damage from his little taste.

Since then I cannot think of lilies without thinking of Olaf and the folly that took him from us all too early.

This pattern is both fully written and charted.

While beginner lace knitters may find the border on this design more challenging, the body is a nice simple repeat that you'll quickly become familiar with.
If a 4ply version with a simplified border sounds more like your cup of tea be sure to check out Olaf's Legacy.
